Dale and Nancy Amundson established Great American Homes in 1990, and started building Wausau Homes in the spring of 1991 in Menomonie and Dunn County area. The first year, they built 6 homes, which was their goal. Since then, they have built up the business to an average of over 25 homes per year. Great American Homes has become the leading homebuilder in the Chippewa Valley area, which covers Dunn, Barron, St. Croix, Chippewa Counties and parts of Eau Claire, Pepin, and Pierce Counties. Great American Homes has consistently won awards for sales, customer satisfaction, and both interior and exterior designs, from 1991 til Today.
They started Great American Homes, working out of a basement office in their home. After a short time, they bought an office building in North Menomonie. They outgrew that office with the increased business, and built a new office building just South of the smaller office on Wilson St. The new office allows for display areas of the many facets of building materials and interior design. The office also shows the many ideas that Wausau Homes can do, i.e.. roof design, inverted vaulted ceilings, different interior roof heights, different drywall textures, windows, etc.

There are no hidden charges or extras at the end of the project, unless changes by the homeowners are made during the construction process. We offer a complete one year warranty on the home and structure, and honor all of the individual warranties;30 year and higher shingles, lifetime on siding, 20 year windows, electrical, plumbing, heat and air, etc.
We want to take this opportunity to thank all of our sub-contractors as well. Most of our sub-contractors have been with us since 1991. With the help and cooperation of our sub-contractors, we have put together a team to build your home. We start with the excavation, and have a written calendar of completion, so you, as well as all of our sub-contractors know what will be done on each and everyday as your home is being built. This makes the completion of your home a truly enjoyable and pleasurable experience.
